Offset Seeks 50/50 Custody of His 3 Kids Amid Cardi B Divorce Battle

Offset legally requested joint legal custody for his three children with Cardi B. Court documents obtained by TMZ affirm that Offset is seeking a balanced setup in which each parent is equally in charge of their children.

According to court documents filed in late February 2025, Offset, whose real name is Kiari Cephus, is looking for a fair arrangement where both parents share legal responsibilities for their kids—Kulture (6), Wave (3), and their five-month-old daughter, whose name has not yet been publicly revealed. His filing reveals he is acknowledging Cardi B’s home as home but demanding he be involved in making major decisions about them in some form.

The filing also puts in place financial guidelines, including structured child support and equal marital asset division. Each is required to pay for his or her own attorney fees in a move possibly to prevent extended financial disputes.

This filing is just seven months after Cardi B had initiated divorce proceedings in August 2024. The split since has played out in public, as shots across each other’s bows and allegations have had fans in a state of unease. Several observers are seeing this filing as a move towards making sure there are definite lines in place rather than unofficial and at times anarchic agreements.

Cardi B and Offset have had a whirlwind romance since day one. The duo secretly exchanged vows in 2017, had a child in 2018, and had break-ups and make-ups in between. In 2020, divorce proceedings had been initiated by Cardi B but she dropped them citing family and bonding.

Despite times of enthusiasm and encouragement, there had tended to be accusations of adultery and trust issues in their romance. By mid-2024, sources close to them had intimated increased space between them, resulting in the eventual filing for breakup by Cardi B. The breakup had been inevitable, sources clarified, as “They have just grown out of each other.”

In contrast to subdued celebrity break-ups, Cardi B and Offset have played out their conflicts in public. The past few months have seen both musicians go back and forth on social media making bombshell allegations about each other. Offset blamed Cardi for making up stories in a bid to tarnish his reputation, but Cardi responded, alleging he had forsaken their kids and used them as pawns in their break-up.

They have watched them go back and forth online, some in defense of Cardi and some in defense of Offset. The tit-for-tat is feeding the fire in this dirty situation and making it clear tensions are still running hot.

Cardi B, who is vocal about putting priorities on childrearing, is expected to have primary physical custody, while Offset is looking for joint decision-making rights in raising them, including religion, healthcare, and schooling.

Financially, Offset’s suggestion for a split in marital wealth at 50/50 is common in most modern divorce settlements, especially for high-income-earning relationships. The two artists have established multimillion-dollar empires, and as such, asset split would be a convoluted affair based on music earnings, endorsements, and investments.

The proceedings have been marked by exchanges in public, including accusations of financial misconduct and adultery. In January of 2025, Cardi B had charged Offset and his mother for financial misconduct, adding to the public scrutiny surrounding their break-up.

Even amid all the melodrama on social media, each of them have separately spoken about doing right for their kids. In past interviews, Cardi confessed she had a hard time balancing career and family, and Offset talked about being a good dad and being there for his family.

Despite personal turmoil, however, each artist remained dedicated to his or her profession. Cardi B remained occupied producing new tracks, insisting on good lyrics that attract her crowd. Offset, for his part, had multiple features and endeavors and remained active in the industry.

During divorce proceedings, the well-being of their children is at top priority. The dynamics for the family in the future will be highly impacted based on the outcome in cases involving child custody since each parent would like to remain actively involved in their lives.
